over 100 coach inspections per month. The inspection report generated is given to various sections who in turned rectify the defects before turning out the coaches; the rectified defect is also to be cross checked by officer before that. This system not only generates large volume of paper work but also involves lot of co-ordination work between the various sections and transmission of information in real time to the concerned section for timely rectification action. It was found that this system was very cumbersome and many a times the reported defects could not be rectified due to lack of proper communication and coordination, and the coach left with the reported defect. To circumvent the drawbacks of the existing system, a mobile & Web based application has been developed to facilitate effective inspections and timely rectification of shortcomings

1. The inspecting officer can select the defects and the ticket is generated for the defects. The ticket has a unique number and is automatically transmitted to the concerned supervisors.
2. The application has facility to take picture of the defects that become part of the tickets and is sent to the concerned supervisors.
3. The defects have been mapped against the corresponding supervisors/ sections in the way that the tickets of a particular defect will automatically go to the concerned set of supervisors.
4. The supervisor upon rectification of the defects sends the feedback to the inspecting officer along with photograph of the rectified defects.
5. Upon satisfactory resolution of the tickets the inspecting officer can close the tickets.
